This May, we celebrate our Humboldt penguin super mom – Pippa!
Pippa was born in 2016. She wears a yellow flipper band and is usually found in a nest box near the back of the penguin habitat with her partner, Quince.
Pippa and Quince have successfully raised three chicks. Paco and Rico are biologically their chicks, and “Sammy” Sammons is their foster chick. Sammy’s egg was laid by Maya, who had laid two eggs. Pippa and Quince took great care of the egg, and once again, demonstrated their incredible parenting skills!
