Zoo’s Africa-Based Conservation Partner Visits Sioux Falls
The Great Plains Zoo (GPZ) is excited to welcome Dr. Jeff Muntifering, our partner conservation biologist, to Sioux Falls on September 8 for our next Conservation Conversation.
For 20+ years, Muntifering has worked in Namibia as an innovator in the conservation of the black rhinoceros population. This work is enabled by support from the Minnesota Zoo and GPZ. Learn about his multi-pronged approach of involving local communities in protecting this critically endangered species from poachers.
With the help of GPZ, Muntifering will take this successful conservation model to Nepal in service of another critically endangered species – the snow leopard. This is particularly exciting, as GPZ will send a team to Nepal in fall 2022 to assist in this work.
Admission is $10 and seating is limited at Fernson. Ticket can be purchased online at Shop.GreatZoo.org/WebStore/Shop/ViewItems.aspx.
This is a family-friendly event. Drinks will be available for purchase.
Details: Thursday, September 8 | 5:30 pm | Fernson Brewery at 1400 E. Robur Dr., Sioux Falls
