Aza Pftp 2021 Ig Photo3

Are you ready to spring into action to save our planet?

Party for the Planet: Spring into Action is back and this year is designed to support families in taking action at home and in their community. This year's campaign will continue to focus on Healthy Habitats with three action areas: Clean, Create and Connect with nature. Join us Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm to learn more about the conservation efforts of your GPZoo and how YOU can get involved! The first 100 people through the entryway gates at 1:00 pm will recieve a 2021 Party for the Planet kit containing a reusable produce bag, garden tool, nature journal and more!

*Activities for this event are included in the cost of admission

Activities include:

  • Creature Features: Join our JZKs in the Plaza at 1:30 and 3:30 to learn more about some of the animals that call GPZoo home.
  • Gift Card Recycle: Help us save the habitats of the Giraffes by bringing in old gift cards, gym cards, library cards and more to recycle to reduce the need for petroleum oil. Recycling bins will be located at the gateway entry.
  • Zookeeper Chat: Join one of our Giraffe Zookeepers at 2:30 pm near the Giraffe Barn to learn all about our long-neck friends and the efforts in place to help save them!
  • Black Rhino: Witness our 3 Black Rhinos out on exhibit and hear from Conservation Biologist, Dr. Jeff Muntifering, about our partnership in Namibia to help save these magestic creatures from extinction.
  • Prairie Land Conservation: Prairie grasslands are a vital ecosystem. Learn about the wildlife that inhabits these areas and what can be done to help conserve these areas. Pick up a pollinator garden seed packet and instructions to create your very own garden right at home!

  • Single-Use Plastic Reduction Pledge: Stop by the museum to learn about the dangerous of single-use plastic and sign up for our single-use plastic reduction pledge as well as learn about an AZA SAFE species, the Spotted Turtle. Pick up a Party for the Planet reusable straw to help kick off your pledge committment!

Spring Into Action with your GPZoo April 24 and help us continue to care for our planet!

  • Love this zoo! Great place to get a walk in and the animals are everywhere! The museum/indoor part is very educational too. Has a lot of shade for when it's hot out. Very clean. Friendly staff.

  • The museum gives you a break from the sun on hot summer days and has a great selection of animal exhibits from around the world. ¬†The zoo keeps growing and adding new animal habitats or improving existing ones. ¬†Membership offers reciprocal benefits to other zoos around the country.
