Seasonal Guest Experience Team Members
Come join us this summer at the Great Plains Zoo as a Seasonal Guest Experience Team Member! This position assists in preserving the Zoo's mission by engaging our guests in various attractions and will be part of a team that is keeping our guests informed and safe and our facilities clean. You will be creating memorable experiences for our guests while monitoring and interpreting several walk-in Australia exhibits, providing scripted interpretation on our Savannah Express Train Ride, and providing an outstanding and safe experience on our Sanford Carrousel.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring guests and interpreting animals in our walk-in Australia exhibits, including a kangaroo yard, sheep yard, and Australia aviary.
- Safely operating the Sanford Carrousel while providing an engaging and entertaining experience.
- Loading, unloading, and driving the Savannah Express Train Ride while providing an enthusiastic scripted tour.
- Accepting and counting tokens at paid attractions (cash handling is not required).
- Providing outstanding guest service.
- Answering guest questions and providing directions as needed.
- Communicating professionally and positively with guests, staff, volunteers and others.
- Some positions include sanitizing facilities including exterior windows in high touch areas such as brown bear, snow monkey and giraffe exhibits. These positions may also be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and emptying exterior trash cans.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Must be at least 18 years of age in order to drive motorized carts and train. Must have a valid driver's license and pass a background and MVR check.
- Must be willing and able to work hours the Zoo is open including weekends, holidays and evenings.
- The desire and ability to welcome, interact and engage guests of all ages and abilities as they delight in a day at the Zoo.
- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred.
- The ability to work well alone and as part of a team.
- Maturity, sound judgment and good decision-making skills.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, be able to lift 50 lbs, and be able to stand for long periods of time.

The Great Plains Zoo cares for animals from around the world and offers up-close views of animals often not found in larger zoos, including Giraffes, Tigers, Rhinos and a national award-winning Snow Monkey exhibit.
