The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum is offering an opportunity for education and experience for tomorrow’s workforce.
The Zoo has internship opportunities available to those interested in pursuing a career in event design, marketing, and social media.
The intern program is designed to help applicants gain on-the-job experience promoting a major tourist attraction through marketing and social media campaigns, as well as gate-driving special events.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading daily fun activities
- Assist in event planning, setup, and execution
- Collaborate on social media campaigns
- Photography and videography
Requirements
Must be 18 or older.
Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. Prefer candidates that are pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Schedule is generally 30-40 hours for 12 weeks and can be extended beyond this period. Must complete a minimum of 400 hours. Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required. Most of our events take place on weekends and some happen after hours. However, scheduling exceptions can be addressed on a case-by-case basis. This is an on-site internship.
Interns must take directions well and pay careful attention to procedures and established protocols.
They should follow instructions and carry out their responsibilities in a safe and careful manner in order to avoid injury to themselves, to employees, to visitors, and to the animals.
All interns should have a passion for animals, storytelling, and a genuine interest in creating incredible experiences for our guests.
This intern should have exceptional written and verbal skills with knowledge of content creation for the web and social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Experience with photography, videography and editing, and Hootsuite preferred. Experience gathering basic web and social analytics preferred.
This intern must like interacting with children. They must be responsible and resourceful. They will be required to work with various teams throughout the Zoo, and on projects with minimal supervision. As no two days are the same at the Zoo, this individual must be able to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Must also maintain a valid driver’s license.
