Guest Experiences Supervisor

Come join us at the Great Plains Zoo!  The Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History is looking for a highly-motivated, friendly and positive person to join our team.  If you enjoy interacting with people and having a variety of responsibilities, then this newly created, full-time position could be right for you.  

The Guest Experiences Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination of the Zoo's volunteer activities, oversight of the seasonal operation of the train, carrousel and guest experiences and management of the seasonal employees operating them, coordination of school groups as well group sales/facility rentals.

 Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating day-to-day and special events volunteer activities including recruiting, selecting, assigning, scheduling and training of volunteers.  
  • Hiring, scheduling and supervising approximately 6 seasonal employees who will operate train, carrousel and provide other guest experiences.  This position will provide back-up staffing as needed. 
  • Showing facility rental spaces, booking events, responding to requests, delivering proposals and providing excellent, responsive customer service to groups and individuals.  
  • Communicating with and responding to school groups to book spring and other field trips.
  • Working collaboratively with other Zoo staff and departments with the implementation of our special events.
     

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will:

  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Have an enthusiastic approach to job responsibilities and duties.
  • Be self-motivated, observant and efficient.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have MS Office suite experience and proficient computer skills to work with Zoo software and systems.
  • Have the desire and ability to provide superior customer service to guests, staff, volunteers and others.
  • Be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver's license.

Candidates must be willing and able to work shifts in locations as dictated for seasonal staff absences, training or otherwise as needed. Must be available as the operations dictate in summer season for ride and staff management and throughout the year which may include extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays. The expected schedule for this position in the peak season is Thursday – Monday.
