Field Trips
Bookings for 2025 will be available in late January.
A trip to the Great Plains Zoo offers students a chance to learn about the world around them in a living classroom. Hop next to the kangaroos, 'baa' with the sheep, and roam around like the bison while exploring the zoo. Discover facts about endangered animals from around the world and ones in our own backyard.
Our field trips are self-guided. Groups typically need about 2 hours to see the whole zoo.
Animal encounters and guided tours can be added for an additional cost in Spring (April - May) and Fall (September - October) based on Education Staff availability. Animal encounters are limited to 40 people, but multiple sessions may be available. Guided tours are limited to 25 people and only include areas accessible to guests.
Memberships are for family visits and cannot be used for Field Trips.

Group Visits

The Great Plains Zoo offers visitors an up-close look at hundreds of amazing animals, from lemurs to lions, bears to bison, and snakes to sheep. Summer camps, after school programs, retirement homes, and more are welcome to use our group visit discount.
The group visit rate is only for groups of 20 or more guests (not including those under the age of two). Groups using this rate must all be present at check-in and use a single payment method in a single transaction.
