Family Programs

"Fostering a greater understanding of our natural world through Education, Conservation, Recreation and Discovery."

Education of the natural world is vital. The Great Plains Zoo is committed to providing a fun as well as educational experience for all our guests. Our Education crew offers additional programming that focuses on interaction and education with animals from our team of experienced professionals! 

Family Program Package

Add an expert to your next visit to the Zoo!  Our Family Program Package includes a 60-minute guided tour of several of our animal exhibits, with in-depth animal information and animal artifacts!  The tour will be followed by a 30-minute encounter with two of our Ambassador Animals, including a chance to touch at least one of them. 

This program is appropriate for groups of all ages, but your group must include at least one adult. Please note that the tour is in public areas only and does not include behind-the-scenes access.

Members: $45
Non-members: $50
*Pricing is valid for groups of up to 10.  If you have more than 10 people (including adults), please contact us for program pricing.
*Price does not include Zoo admission.

Want just the tour or the animal encounter?  Individual programs available; please select “Personal Tour Only” ($30) or “Animal Encounter Only” ($20) on your request form.

Program Package Request Form

Program Packages are available daily, during Zoo hours, year-round based on educator availability. Please make your reservation at least two days in advance. For reservations, fill out the form below or contact our Education Department at 605-367-8313, ext. 233.  (Phone reservations are recommended within a week of the requested date.)

To Request a Program Package: Complete this form and submit it. We will send you an email confirmation with your program date and time, along with the total cost. Your package is not guaranteed until you receive a confirmation email.
