Zoo Play Days

Looking for a way to engage your 6-9 year old this summer?

Zoo Play Days are your answer!

Our Zoo Play Day is a drop-off program that runs from 9 a.m. – noon for kids ages 6-9!  Each day will cover a different theme: one day it might be exploring the desert animals, the next a jump across the globe to the rainforests! Each Zoo Play Day will include meeting an ambassador animal, active socially distanced games, Zoo tours, and rides on the Train and Carrousel.

  • Members: $30 (tax included)
  • Non-members: $35 (tax included)

*Advanced registration required, limited availability.

What You Need To Know:

  • Children will be required to wear masks for certain parts of the morning, and are welcome to wear them for the duration of the day if preferred. (We recommend bringing a cloth mask, but disposible masks will be available for those that do not provide their own)
  • A snack will not be provided due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please be sure your child eats a hearty breakfast before coming in.
  • We recommend bringing sunblock and a reusable water bottle for the day.
  • Dress your child appropriately for outdoor play, including shoes with a backing.
  • Do not send your child to Zoo Play Day if they are sick (fever, cough, shortness of breath).

If you need any additional information, please contact us at or call us at (605) 367-8313 x233.

  • Love this zoo! Great place to get a walk in and the animals are everywhere! The museum/indoor part is very educational too. Has a lot of shade for when it's hot out. Very clean. Friendly staff.

  • The museum gives you a break from the sun on hot summer days and has a great selection of animal exhibits from around the world.  The zoo keeps growing and adding new animal habitats or improving existing ones.  Membership offers reciprocal benefits to other zoos around the country.
