The Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum is looking for an experienced, highly self-motivated, energetic, reliable and task-oriented executive administrative assistant.

The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping our administrative office running smoothly. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the President/CEO as well as other department leaders.  The preferred candidate will be proficient writing, developing and sending correspondence, maintaining database content, preparing reports, presentations and other materials for meetings.  This role will handle sensitive and confidential information and must exercise discretion and tact.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing office and administrative support to Executive leadership and other department leaders.
  • Preparing accurate, timely internal and external communications
  • Managing calendars, making travel, meeting and event arrangements
  • Preparing reports, presentations and other materials for meetings
  • Maintaining an organized system of paper and electronic records
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant or similar role reporting to management
  • Advanced MS office skills with the ability to become proficient in other Zoo specific software and programs
  • Superior communication, writing and editing skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
  • Must enjoy the variety and pace associated with supporting our office

Come join us at the Great Plains Zoo!  The Zoo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a greater understanding of our natural world through Education, Conservation, Recreation and Discovery.  The Great Plains Zoo cares for more than 1,000 animals from around the world and offers up-close views of animals often not found in larger zoos, including giraffes, tigers, rhinos and a national award-winning Snow Monkey exhibit.  The Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and sees approximately 300,000 visitors annually.
