Zippity Zoo Day

Zippity Zoo Day, the Zoo’s annual summer children’s carnival draws nearly 5,000 people. This family-friendly event includes exciting activities such as inflatable jumpers, face painting, carnival games, Zookeeper talks, animal encounters and children’s music.

Date: Saturday, June 17
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: Event is free with Zoo admission.

Schedule of Events:
Activities from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
-    Free Face Painting (Picnic Shelter)
-    Carnival Games (Primate Lawn)
-    Inflatables (Throughout the Zoo)

Musical Entertainment from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
-    DJ Sieff (Primate Lawn)

Creature Features (Plaza) at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Animal Feedings
-    Primates – 2 p.m.

Zookeeper Chats
-    Koala – 10:30 a.m.
-    Amur Tiger – 11:30 a.m.
-    Koala – 1:30 p.m.
-    Black Bear – 3 p.m.

Bookworms Reading Program (KELOLAND Education Center) at 1 p.m.

Feed a Giraffe - $5 (African Savannah) at 2 p.m.

*In addition to the Maasai Market Café and Hy-Vee Face-to-Face Farm, additional food concessions will be available in the Primate Lawn for the duration of the event.

  • Love this zoo! Great place to get a walk in and the animals are everywhere! The museum/indoor part is very educational too. Has a lot of shade for when it's hot out. Very clean. Friendly staff.

  • A really great zoo featuring some exotic species and I liked the focus on conservancy/breeding to preserve species for the rhinos. The safari area's cheetah was awesome to see. During a week day going, it was quite open to walk around and enjoy without too much crowding.

  • The museum gives you a break from the sun on hot summer days and has a great selection of animal exhibits from around the world. ¬†The zoo keeps growing and adding new animal habitats or improving existing ones. ¬†Membership offers reciprocal benefits to other zoos around the country.
