Animal Enrichment Day

This event allows the public to see some of the special work that often goes on behind-the-scenes at the Zoo. This is an opportunity to witness how the Zoo’s Animal Care Staff provides special treats and activities to help hone the animals’ natural behaviors. Adults and children will enjoy seeing this “enrichment”, which might include watching the Zoo's Snow Monkeys forage for nuts and popcorn in paper maché balls or seeing a Rhino crunch a frozen watermelon.

Date: Saturday, August 17
Time: 1 - 4 p.m.
Cost: Event is free with Zoo admission.

Animal Enrichment Day activities are free for Zoo members or with paid admission to the Zoo. Animal enrichments will occur throughout the afternoon.

Enrichment Schedule:
1:00 p.m. Snow Monkeys
1:30 p.m. Amur Tigers
2:00 p.m. Eastern Black Rhinos
2:30 p.m. African Wild Dogs
3:00 p.m. Brown Bears
3:30 p.m. Kangaroos

  • Love this zoo! Great place to get a walk in and the animals are everywhere! The museum/indoor part is very educational too. Has a lot of shade for when it's hot out. Very clean. Friendly staff.

  • The museum gives you a break from the sun on hot summer days and has a great selection of animal exhibits from around the world. ¬†The zoo keeps growing and adding new animal habitats or improving existing ones. ¬†Membership offers reciprocal benefits to other zoos around the country.
