Belted Galloway cattle are black with a distinctive white belt around their middle, giving them the appearance of the black-and-white sandwich cookie. Belted Galloways, also known as “Belties,” are medium in size, with cows weighing about 1,000 pounds and bulls about 1,600 pounds.
Dexter cattle are among the smallest of cattle breeds in the world, standing only 40 inches tall and weighing 700 – 900 pounds. Because of their size, Dexter cattle have always attracted attention, and have sometimes been promoted as a novelty or ornamental breed.
