They got their name from how quickly they can run. A Swift Fox can reach speeds over 30 miles per hour.
Swift Fox numbers have declined because of the increase in agriculture and the disappearance of native prairies. Swift Fox have also fallen victim to hunting, trapping, and poisoning campaigns aimed at wolves, coyotes and red fox.
